Light Pillars Dance . . .

As cold temperatures blanket the earth
and folk stay inside to avoid its dearth,
as the night settles in cold, clear, and calm
lights begin dancing, create visual balm
teasing the atmosphere--"Come out and play,"
the majestic phenomenon might say.
Hexagonal ice crystals stacking high,
shining Northern Lights right up to the sky.
A scene not seen in the lower forty-eight
'cause negative temps stay north of the "gate"
'til heaven breaks in frigid explosion
midst sudden calm--active implosion.
Ice crystals dance, reward the human eye
as he--braving elements--views the sky
to scan ballet performances up high.

Northern Light beauty not commonly seen
south of the tundra where cold visions keen.
Icy plies frolic midst calm in the sky--
geometric shapes from pillars on high
as those--willing to brave the elements--
seeing beauty, breathing the crisp, cold scents
gaze upward, inhale, absorbing the calm
oozing forth, emitting, scripting a psalm,
embracing the soul, mesmerizing view
ensconcing lights in the angelic hue
of majestic pillars' parallel stance
in vertical rhythm span the expanse.
As the night lights create unusual scenes
across the frigid night, coursing through veins
giving life to darkness, shining again.
